Knowing Avi
(A story based on an interview with
Avigael Maningo)

SHE hates Kung Fu Panda.
Except for the fact that she falls asleep in the middle of every film other than horror films, she also doesn’t find Po that cute and cuddly. It irritates her when she remembers the panda.
She has quite a lot of dear moments in her year of stay at the Kalayaan Residence Hall – chatting with friends and dorm mates, reviewing with classmates and hanging out with him. But now that she is already a sophomore Journalism student, she’s creating more unforgettable moments in Molave Residence Hall. Yet the Kalai memories still marks her mind especially because of her past suitor, whom she said, resembles a panda bear. He is plump and hefty which she claimed, is actually perfect in his costume that he wore in their Wacky Day, a panda.
She just turned 18 years old last May 6. And surprisingly, she has never had a boyfriend in spite of her unique poise and inner charm that is really noticeable as one gets to know her more intimately. She dislikes it when somebody plays a joke or tells her a lie. Funny thing is, she declared that her suitor used to tell her before several weird things about his family, work and study that most probably, she said, are lies.

SHE hates journalism.
Moreover, this gal is really dreaming of becoming a renowned newscaster. She became interested in it when she attended a seminar regarding broadcasting in summer before her first year in UP starts. Journalism isn't her first choice course. Unfortunately, she is one of the students who got DPWS (Degree Program with Available Slot) and since journalism is the closest course, she thought; she decided to enroll in it. But now, she somehow thinks that she isn't a news writer but a creative writer. And most importantly, she likes to speak, not to write. She likewise said that she dislikes journalism in high school because of her teacher in it.
“Yung sinasabi ni Ma'am Chua na nose for news? Parang wala nga ako nun e!,” she emphasized.
Yet she is still striving for high grades in her journalism subjects so that if she decides to leave her current course, shifting is an ease. “Fear not, believe you can!,” is her motto since high school.
SHE loves interaction.
Her organizations in her high school in Isabel, Leyte exposed her to different kinds of people. Those are her golden years, she said. Definitely, she is an active member. But being part of the UP SAMASKOM now, is really an achievement for her.
SHE loves the series of Stephenie Meyer especially the Twilight and MacArthur by Bob-Ong.

SHE loves Archie and Pugadbaboy.
SHE loves eating and sleeping.

She is none other than, Avigael Maningo.
